1. Originally released in , Matthews' Southern Comfort was Ian Matthews' first album after leaving Fairport Convention. Although many Fairport personnel appear here (Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Ashley Hutchings), for his new band Matthews had begun distancing himself from the pure English folk rock of Fairport, preferring instead to explore a more American breed of song writing, being made /5(13).

2. I've had these on Vinyl for 30 years, now I have them on CD as well. Not sure I can cope with the lack of hisses and crackles though. I actually think that Ian Matthews / Southern Comfort's best LP is 'Later that Same Year', but the two albums crammed onto this CD are well up there in the star category/5(16).

Lee Scratch Perry is influential to whatever music trends followed afterwards and this album captures the early experimentation of the analogue echo chambers with the steel spring inside the electro acoustic sound box. The sounds of the Blackboard Jungle Dub and Upsetters are superb. Pop Goes The Dread Dub and Cloak A Dagger are classics/5(11).

6. Now, the bonus disc(s): disc #4 is "The Truth", an acoustic-based disc with no drums, just percussion and percussive effects. The average tempo of the songs here tends to be slower than most other Prince albums; arrangements are based mainly around the acoustic guitar but augmented with elaborate production effects and multi-layered vocals/5(57).
